Bacterial vaginitis is an imbalance in bacterial content inside the vagina. There are many bacteria and yeast living inside vagina. When the bad bacteria overgrows, bacterial vagainitis occurs.

Men could develop something similar called balanitis. It is inflammation of the penile head. It occurs due to the overgrowth of organisms which are normally present on the skin of the penile head.

Usually it doesn't need treatment except for regular washing but if it persists or becomes severe, it may need a treatment.
