Hi, I am 20 years old and have just the past 4 months became sexually active. I have a question though, I was about 12 days away from my next menstral cycle when i woke up and had a very heavy period. It scared me because i have always been so accurate. Although the night beofore my ex/boyfriend and i made up and did have sex, we used protection. It had been two weeks since we had had sex, and it was a litlle rough,, the period came and lasted 3 days..while on my period i experienced sharp pain in my Right Upper Quadrant..anyway, i took a pregnancy test while on my period and it was negative...should i take another test? Or what does this mean?

Oh, this seems like something about what you have to discuss with your gynecologist as you had the heavy bleeding lasting 3 days in the period it definitely shouldn’t appear. But what I assume is that it was just due to your ovulation, some women, when ovulating, get some spotting and light bleeding, but sometimes it can happen that blood starts to flow in great amounts and this could have happened to you though. Some stress, if you had any, could interfere with ovulation. Once I had a bleeding in the middle of my cycle and was scared to death, I rushed to my gynecologist and he said this was just natural when ovulating and it didn’t require treatment.
So, let’s hope you are now going through the same like me, but you check it out with the doc just in case!
