Many of my family antecedents suffered from hepatitis i.e. inflamed liver. Is this disease inheritable and how serious it can be?

Acute (a) and chronic (c) hepatitis are both caused, in most of cases, by alcohol abuse. It can range from a mild hepatitis to severe liver dysfunction with complications such as jaundice, hepatic encephalopathy (neurological dysfunction caused by liver failure), fluid accumulation in the abdomen, abnormal blood clotting and coma. Hepatitis can accompany cirrhosis of the liver, another alcoholic well-known disease, or even can cause it in some cases. However, hepatitis itself is not inheritable, but I think there is a slight predisposition for that disease that can be transferred.
