soreness in right side oif neck and mild sore throat

It started as a soreness in my jaw on the right side and in a few days the soreness is now isolated to the lower right side of my neck. I have a dr appt of monday. the pain is not bad and it's not like a typical sore throat which is why I am worried...the soreness hurts more when you touch the area in the right side of my neck to the right of my adams apple. Any ideas?
