Please, can you tell me what kind of disorder spastic colon is? My best friend has been suffering from abdominal pain for some time. After detail exams he has been through, his diagnose was spastic colon. I am worried about him and I need information about it. Thanks

Spastic colon is another name for IBS. Irritable bowel syndrome is a common disorder in which the bowel doesn’t work as it should. The usual symptoms are: abdominal pain and cramping, changes in the bowel function, such as diarrhea or constipation. It is often connected with an increase in spontaneous movement of contractions of muscles in the small and large intestines.
