im 15 years old. i am on a birthcontrol pill and i do not have sex. i have been fingered in the past though. i rarely miss taking a pill, and never miss it by more then one day. i have recently had very severe cramps but shortly after i got a cold. im not sure if the cramps are related to the cold or to my menstural cycle. last month i lightly spotted for just 3 days before my period and then i had my normal period of about 4 days. i started spotting a very dark brown, almost muddy substance, about 8-10 days ago and i still am. i seem to be starting my period, but it is very light, and im not sure if it is actualy my period or not. the spotting and slight bleeding are both still occuring at the same time for two days now. im not pregnant, btu im not sure what is gogin on. if you knwo what this is, please help.

Spotting is common when on birth control pills, especially during the first three cycles you do so. They can sometimes make cramps less intense, but this isn't the case for all girls. Your vagina is always cleaning itself out. Blood, when it's old, is brown, so that could be what's happening--you're just keeping things clean down there.

I'm sure your cold isn't related at all.

I would, just in case, check with your health care physician or call Planned Parenthood to ask. It could be a more serious problem. Maybe you would even be better switching to a different brand of birth control pills. It's better to get this checked out now, so if there is a problem it can be addressed.
