Hi I have been on birthcontrol pills from 26th March as my doctor suggested because I wanted to postpone my periods which were supposed to come on 1st april. But from 6th april I have been experiencing some bleeding which causes a little lower abdominal pain and lower back pain. Is it normal? Should I stop takign the pills or continue it. I was under the impression that spotting lasts for 2-3 days. Its been 4 days and it is still continued. the bleeding is more than a coupe of drops and is of dark brown colored. Can anybody suggest me something?
Thanks

These are the side effects from excessive hormones from the pill. I think it is normal. I have been using the pills for the few moments, however, I haven’t experienced this breakthrough bleedings but from what I’ve been reading, it happens all the time.

The pills may be so weird and interfere with your menstrual pattern making them irregular and cause these spotting and cramps. Some pills may make you nauseous, experience headaches, breast tenderness, weigh gain and going through forums I realized many girls experienced mood problems, like depression and being irritable.

Birth control pills are not advised to be used by those women who smoke, especially if they are over 35 before bc pills make you more prone to forming blood clots that can be fatal.

These side effects usually diminish when the body gets used to all those hormones. It may take up to three months though. If you don’t experience any improve, you should talk to your doc about changing the brand.
