spotting with new birth control

I just recently started the new Ortho Evra patch and by Monday (today is Sat.) should be starting my period. I realize its normal to spot "brown" before bc usually I do before every period, but I have been spotting since two days ago (thurs). Is the "brown spotting" a side effect from the patch or could something else be wrong? Confused

Bleeding in between period is a common side effect of this birth control. I would assume that any spotting you have would be related to the patch.
