started BC again and now brown spotting and cramping

I have been off of birht control for about a year maybe and I just recently started taking my old birth control again. I began the new pack the Monday after my period was over and now it is the second week in my pack and I am having brown spotting and cramping. I just wanted to nkow if anyone had an explanation for this.
