statin induced myopathy

Hi, my very good friend is suffering from myiopathy. His condition is not so bad and he is trying to improve it with physical therapy. I know that he inherited this disease as his father had similar disorder. Several days ago I heard that also some medications may cause this disease so I would like to know something more.

Hi, you are quite right when you say that some drugs may cause myopathies. Medications which are prescribed and whose goal is to low level of lipids in blood may cause myopathy. These forms of myopathy are not so often but they may be verey severe with heart and liver failure. Patients who are taking these medication would be very careful and if recognize smallest sign would inform their doctor.
