Posted: 01/13/08 - 00:03 Post subject: Bean-like shape in stool |
|
|
| My situation started about 8 months ago, when I noticed a bean shaped object (yellowish-orange) in my stool. They are always the same shape, color and size (and they float). I have the most irregular BM, mostly loose yellow and slimy. Anyway, I took one into my Dr.s 3 weeks ago and they wouldn't accept it because it wasn't collected properly, however he thought it looked like a pill casing--nope, I haven't taken any vitamins and the meds I take look nothing like it. Then he thought it might be a parasite egg--(OMG, I hope not, can't imagine the size of a parasite that would lay an egg that big). So he ordered a stool sample to be sent to the lab..and a visit with a GI Dr. to schedule a colonoscopy. Haven't heard the results from the lab, but have appointment Jan. 16th. with GI Dr. This is really freaking me out....I thought I might be passing a cyst...I will post the results when I have some info, till then, I guess we're in this together.... |

| I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one with this problem. It's even happened once after 24 hrs on clear liquids. I have other symptoms as well from colitis. My doc doesn't seem concerned, but I am... Seems something isn't working properly. Really curious to see if there is finally an answer. |

Okay! Has anybody found out what this is yet?? I had a bean like thing back in the summer and I thought it was a flaxseed capsule that I was taking so I stopped it. But it happened again last night and tonight. The same odd looking bean shaped beigey looking squshy thing. I am starting to get a little worried. Has anybody looked at changes in your diet?
I need answers and I'm too embarrased to call the doctor.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem.
Please reply!!! |

| My doctor says don't worry. Mine are the undisolved time release capsules from a medicine I take. I pass three or four of them a day and I take four pills a days. So there you go folks, quit worrying and have a good day. |

| I don't know. I take several medications a day and almost all of them are pills not capsules. And I think this is bigger than any pill or capsule I take. Plus I don't see it everyday. How did you bring this up with your Dr? |

This is NOT from a pill..I don't know what they are yet but definately not from a capsule. These are shaped like a navy bean and filled with with soft filling and I take no capsules. I can see up to 3 or 4 of these a day. The pills I take are much smiller and round. So I know for sure, this is not caused by a capsule.
I had hoped to return to my doctor before now but another person here said they were taking samples in too. I've taken samples in twice and the 2nd time they told me I had to come in and get a specific container to put samples in. I haven't been back to the doctor yet.
I'm more convinced than ever that these are tape worm sections (they have a specific name) that cary the eggs. I have seen other things in my stool that look like sections of tape worm but, don't get alarmed, this is ONLY what I am beginning to think they are. I also read that having tape worm is often diagnosed as IBS. I guess the bright side is we can get rid of them if that is what they are.
Please if anyone else can get a sample tested and not just a doctor's guess, let us know. Even if it is embarrassing it is important! |

How did I bring it up? You have got to be kidding. I just took some of them in a jar and showed him. I told him I had noticed these in my bowl for a few weeks. Nothing to it. |

Why don't you make it a POINT to take a sample to the lab if it is so important to you. Everyone here seems to be embarrassed by asking a doctor a question. Good grief, are you adults or what. For your information my doctor did not quess, He had them anaylized and they were time release glucophage tablets |

| This just started happening to me. I had my gall bladder removed and started taking Glucophage last month. I thought it was a digestive issue, but I'm glad to hear that a doctor analyzed them as Glucophage. Thanks for the insight. |

Do you take the big white glucophage pills?
I don't take the time release capsules.
To Okiechoochoo - Perhaps everyone is not as comfortable as you are talking about your body and its problems! But be assured, if this continues I WILL call the doctor. I just hate to run to the doctor for every little thing! |
