strenum wires disinegrated, after bypass, and after 2nd time repaired

my husband had 4 bypass done in Sept. 2004, and the sternum wires
disinegrated after 8 months, he had that repaired in Jan. of 2005, and noe
agian the wires have all broke, we would like some input from an expert
about this problem. we have been told that he should not have repaired
unless absolutly necessary.
