strep throat + pregnancy

My 18 month of old was just diagnosed with strep throat, he broke out in the rash last night.......4 days ago we visited my sister-in-law who is three months pregnant..........Will this hurt her baby........is this a dangerous situation for her...............she held my child, gave him hugs and kisses, etc. Please help me. this is her first child and I don't want to alarm her if it is not necessary to even tell her about it.

yes you should tell her asap, even if she wasn't pregnant it is good to know if her throat starts to hurt to pay attention.... i doubt it would hurt her unborn child but she will need to be treated if she gets it. your hearts in the right place but tell her. if she is feeling well - and worries she can just call her baby dr for reassurance that if she gets it she will be treated and get well.

It won't hurt her, but I would tell her so that she can be treated if she starts to have symptoms. I worked in Labor and Delivery for 10 yrs.
