I took amoxicillin for 10 days as prescribed by my doctor but my cough didn't go away. I went back for another visit and prescribed me another type of antibiotic azithromycin which I have to take for 5 days. I am still currently taking this drug but last night my throat started hurting again. It was painful to swallow and it seems like the right side of my neck is swollen. I am worried that this strep throat may be affecting my uborn child. I don't think the amoxicillin killed all the bacteria, and it may have possibly came back. Should I go back to my doctor and ask for another prescription of amoxicillin? The doctor said I may also have a secondary infection that's why she prescribed azithromycin.
