|
|
| Suboxone is classified as a potent analgesic, just like oxycodone, hydro, etc. Anytime you put this type of drug in your body for more than a week or two, just like the well known opiate drugs, you are going to withdrawal to a degree. Those of you with more serious opiate habits sound like you have been on suboxone for an extended period of time, which is too long according to some addiction specialists I talked to at Johns Hopkins. I personally was on it for 2 weeks, threw it away, and then ran back to the doctor I found on the suboxone website, to be on it for 3 more weeks, until I, knowing I had to go through withdrawals before going back to grad school. Previously I was on Percocet and OxyContin for approximately 10 months due to a leg injury. Factor in some clean time and before that I abused pain pills for > 1 yr. Now I am 5 days off suboxone and my eyes are big (which sucks I feel like everybody knows), I am anxious as hell, crapping every 3 hours (if Im lucky), feel awful like I want to stay in bed all day but at the same time I dont, and having a terrible time sleeping. Think about it, when you're on SUB, you can watch your pupils get smaller (you can, check it out), you can feel your body normalize IMMEDIATELY which is not natural - you spent a lot of time getting high, now you're going to have to put in a few weeks feeling like a bag of sh*t. In the meantime: eat as much protein as you can, trust me I think people here will agree that it makes you feel better (skip the BS at mcdonalds though), drink a lot of water since everytime you pee, you are giving your body a chance to excrete some of the toxins clinging to your opitate receptors and wherever else they "hang out." Take a hot shower before you have to go out and do anything important, it will take you mind off the WD and calm you down. Finally, be as ACTIVE as you can be (if you are quitting poly-substance consult a doctor, since benzos and clonidine, etc withdrawal can be dangerous). Force yourself to do something each day like fill up the gas tank, or hit up 7-11, or if you feel crazy like I did yesterday, wander into the gym, crap your brains out, and lift some weights/do some swimming! It HELPS. Get counseling, avoid doctors on the suboxone website that only are in it for the cash (you can tell if they don't ever piss you, and get you in and out as quickly as possible, minus the money order they told you to bring in. I almost fell in hook line and sinker with those docs, too bad I can't continue it since I get pissed randomly and am not willing to take those awful cleansers each time I do. Get counseling instead. Be tough, enjoy that life is FINALLY coming back to you, you'll never experience an ounce of life on these drugs suboxone or heroin alike (guys think about what it does to the old twig and berries). Be willing to go through it or you will relapse, and yes, you will die. |

| if you get a more than a week suboxone subsription dont do it longer than a week or 2 most. doctors who get a licence to presribe suboxone go to a 8 hour course to be able to. and can only presribe to a max total of 30 people. mabey they try giving you this long term presription becuse they want to keep you on the suboxone to keep there 30 possible customers coming back. I got a script of 60 for one month. no way in hell im doin em all. He also wants me to do that much for 9 months got to be some kind of scam. who can afford 425$ a month for the subs anyway.im on day 3 of half a 8 mil suboxone going to a quater of it tommorow then a clean day soon after that ill try to get back and tell you how that works. p.s. im no doc and this is just my thoughts but the 30 people max is true and the 8 hour course true so think about it. |

I have been reading a lot of your posts, and thought I would share my experiences with suboxone. I am currently going thru my 3rd go-around with sub. Ok, first, my drug was heroin, and each time the amount I used was higher. The first time I used sub was in early April of 2005. I tapered down to .25 mgs once per day over 3 months. After I was off of it, the w/d were extremely MILD. yes, i said mild. the first 3 days were a breeze, couldnt sleep well, but that was it. Days 4-7 I had a little anxiety & restless legs, but not too bad at all. After a week, the only thing thing was the sleep was only 3-4 hourse per night. I felt I got off very easy. But about a month later, I relpased & was a full blown heroin addict in a few weeks.
This time, I used for about a year & a half. I would quit & use the sub for a month & would go back & forth between heroin & sub. Finally, in Jan. '07, I had enough & used the exact same formula I did before withe sub. down to .25 mgs every day over a 3 month period. It was murder, absolute hell. It took me 40 days to be over it. It was so unforgiving the 2nd time, wow. I was a good boy for about 3 months & then started using again, & have been since July '07. I took the sub this time for only 1 week. I went from 8 mgs per day to 1 mg yesterday was my last dose. So this is day 1 sub free & I am fine at the moment, but I know that can change at the drop of a hat. I think by not being addicted to the sub, and it has been 8 days since my last heroin use, this may be the way to go. Think about it, if you never get addicted to the sub & have about a week away from your opiate of choice, it makes sense that it will be mild. I will let you know in the next few days how it goes, but I had no problem tapering down at all to 1 mg. |

| If I were you, I would go back on your drug of choice for a month or so & then take the sub for only 1 week. This is day 2 off sub & I am completely fine, I even slept well last night, which I wasnt expecting. I am a little sluggish & yawn a lot, but thats it. The last time I was off sub, day 1 I felt w/d's hard. By day 2, I couldnt eat or sleep & was soooo restless. This seems to be the best method. On another message board someone told me to take sub for no longer than 1 week or every day you stay on it longer than 7 days, you can add 2 days of w/d's & PAWS when coming off of it. It made sense, so thats what I did this time, and it has worked tremendously. You will never get off totally 100% scott free, but you can minimize the damage. |

| I have been on suboxone for 3 years in February. I just weaned myself down to 8 mgms a day from 24 to 30 mgms a day. I had severe abdomenal cramps, headache, and nausea at night for 2 weeks. I now feel really normal. I do want to get off the remaining 8 mgms. Should I wait or should keep weaning myself down. I am scared that I will have more intense withdrawal if I get down to a super low dose. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks! Taligha |

| Honestly, if I were you, I would go back to oxy's or whatever your drug of choice was & use it for 2-3 months & then use subutex for 1 week. I just did it. I am on day 5 off sub that I only used for 1 week & it hasnt been all that bad. I have been able to go to work & basically function. Of course, there are going to be some symptoms, but you will feel 15% of them compared to the full 100% for someone like you who was using sub for years. Last year I was on sub for a long time & when I stopped it took me 40 days to be over the w/d's. |

i am on day 12 since my last 2mg dose of suboxone after nearly 2 years of 8mgs. i feel like a ninety year old man who just lost his wife. have to push myself to do anything....but do see some signs if improvement very gradually. not quite as bad as methodone which i kicked after 2 years about 12 years ago. i will NEVER FORGET THAT! THINGS THAT HELP:
HOT BATHS...masssage....yoga.....meditation and pranayama. one of the best things is an ayurvedic technique known as shiro-dhara! if you are brave enough to free yourselves from thiose lying pharmaceutical giants....good luck and try to remember to breath. |

| It depends on youre own body chemisty and internal fear you gotta believe you will be ok ...I had detoxed off methadone twice 1st time was awful in 1993 I was young and felt awful for 6 months 2nd time went off methadone on to temgesic (buprenorphine) I got 250 2 mg pills 4mgs for 2 weeks 2mg for 2 weeks then I felt fine that was in 2002 ,well I relapsed on Dilaudid and I had given all of my remaining 2mg Bups away but Suboxone was available by then so went on 4mgs a day for a year then my Dr retired and the next doc was an insane woman who gave me 1 month worth 15-8mg pills and fiding I had came up dirty for benzos the next month was no way she wanted me to go to some jackass halfway house my pharmacist was kind enough to let me have a few I crushed into tiny pieces and took just a little daily and walked away in a week not a problem, I took a few adipex for energy and some ibuprofen for some pain I still have a few little pieces maybe 1mg or 2mg you just have to believe youll be fine Im nearly 50 and I had it worse when I was 33 |
