suboxone withdrawal need to know!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all. I'm brand new to this site. Its actually 5 am where I am and I can't sleep. I have been on Suboxone for 2 years, and before that was on Methadone for almost 3. And before that I was an IV herion user for 7 years. I have been trying to wean myself off of Suboxone, but can't seem to do it. I feel it is so difficult because I am the one to "dose" myself every morning. Its up to ME to continue my detox even if I feel crappy that morning. Ya know, to break that pill in half rather than just take the whole one. I as well wake up feeling ill and take it first thing. I'm currently taking about 3 mg. I feel that NA and AA meetings have been so helpful in helping me to stay clean- but just keep your mouth shut about the Suboxone thing, because not everyone UNDERSTANDS what it is, or is even open-minded. Anyhow, I am posting because right now I am so discouraged. Isn't there anyone out there that has sucsessfully weaned themselves off of Sub??? Without going back to narcotics? Please guys...I need a shot of hope about this whole thing.

I have been on suboxone for about a month and have been doing great since I moved away from my triggers. I didnt have a problem cutting the full pill into smaller sizes. I wouldnt have ANY withdrawal symptoms when cutting the dose in half. Maybe thats because I havent been on it for too long. I have taken the suboxone before and didnt remember there being bad withdrawals. I finally got down to taking only one fourth of the suboxone and could even go a day without taking the pill but would have sneezes. Today would be my 5th day off the suboxone. I am STILL having sneezes and chills mostly at night. My back isnt hurting anymore. I was surprised at how long it takes this stuff to finally get out of your system. Sleep has been terrible ofcourse. The withdrawals from Heroin was MUCH worse than this but only last 3 days. This is my 5th day and I want to know when the hell I am going to feel better.

I was reading alot about the withdrawals, stop scaring everyone on suboxone was on four a year and a half at 16 mils the last three months down to 4 then one month to 2 and jumped was sick for two weeks now feel great!!!

Hi! I'm also very confused about the suboxone myself. Does it or does it not cause withdrawals? I recently went into a rehab for opiate use. There protocol was subutex (suboxone is the same medeicine but it also includes narcan so you can not overdose easily on them) for 5 days 2x/ day, than clonidine oraly 2x/day for 7 days. I only took the subutex for the first 5 days and than refused the clonidine. I was fine for 6 days and than I became violentlly ill and was sent to the hosp. for 2 days. There I was Dx'd with colitis. Was given some ativan for the muscle spasms and was feeling good. Two days later I was back in the ER with the same complaints. That time they did nothing so I called my husband and went home for further medical care. The MD at the hospital told me it was narcotic withdrawals. Well here's the thing, wasn't I suppose to have been detoxed already? Now 6 days later I was sick again so I took 4mg's of suboxone and than felt fine since than. What is going on?? Can somebody help?????

I was on 25-30, 10 mg. hydro's per day. Periodically, up to 200 mg. oxy per day. Went to suboxone detox. Drug worked wonders. Unfortunately, doctors can only write 30 patients per year in their first year of prescribing, per DEA guidlines, and my detox doc had his 30 outpatients. He wrote me a takehome ( ambulatory ) script and set me up with another doctor. The script he wrote me left me 4 days short of my appt. I was taking 4 mg. X 3 times per day. I cut down mself to 2mg. X 3 times per day, or 6 mg. total. My new doc cancelled my appt. and so I just quit cold turkey, no further taper or weaning. Big mistake, the anxiety is horrible. I have contemplated just ending it all. This is worse than the hydro detox, not physically, but metally. The physiical part is no picnic either, sweating, loss of appetite, anxiety, pain, insomnia. If I didn't have 2 kids to take care of, I don't know what I would have done. This is day 3 cold turkey, I am just praying today gets better!

Hello all. I discovered this site when trying to find out if other people have experienced w/drawls from suboxone. I have been on it for 11 months. I started at 8mg/day and weaned down by 1mg per month. Each time I lowered my dose, my body needed to adjust. I finally have been down to taking 1mg/day for the past couple of months, even stretching it to taking 1mg every other day. I figured the slower I weaned, the easier it would be at the end, with the hope that the w/drawls would be very very minimal. However, by the time day 2 comes I am in need of the sub. I will admit that it is not too bad but as any addict knows, we physically can feel even the slightest sign of w/drawl and to us it sucks. My doctor has been very supportive but is now saying that it is all psychological at this point and wants me to stop the program. I frickin' HATE when people say it is all in my head It isn't! Anyways...I wonder if I can ever be strong enough to kick this. I want to so badly but fear that I will never be able to get past this last hurdle. If anyone has any advice, please share. I am open for some suggestions, if there are any. Good luck to all that are going through this. I think there is a light at the end of this long journey. I sure hope so, anyway.

I'm, too, currently down to 1 mg. Why not go to 3/4 of a mg. for 4-5 days? And then to 1/2? Do it slowly. It's taken me one year to taper down from 12 mgs. to 1 mg., but I'm okay. I don't like the side effects, but benedryl and advil can help. I don't have the craving problem - I took pain meds for pain, and the pain is gone. But I am going slow because the anxiety and depression during the withdrawal is very hard, but, from what I understand, unavoidable. The worst of the withdrawal is a bit like the flu, though it varies from person to person. It isn't anything like the spiral down effects of addiction, though because there is an end. But....

bottom line: There is no quick fix. Go slowly.

hmmm let's see i guess everybody writes how they came to be first?
well i used to smoke a lot of pot and then i was introduced to Oxy's and would do a 40mg a day. after about 6 weeks of recreational use i started using heroin. that went on for about a year... i tried to cold turkey and that never worked so i started the suboxone method. i tapered off in 21 days from doing 8 mg to like 1 mg... the last day i used suboxone i did like .50mg and went a couple of days without it before that day. it's now the start of day 4 without it and i don't feel THAT bad. i am just curious to know how long this fatigue and insomnia and no appetite thing is going to last... at night i also have heart racing problems. is this normal??? when i am done withdrawing, will i feel as good as i do as when i am on sub? if this is how i'm going to feel the rest of my life it isn't worth it no? i need some feedback please. i've never gotten help from anybody and my suboxone doctor don't know anything about withdrawal (since he prescribed me 24 mg a day) i thought that was ludacrous!
