I am new to this forum and started using Sub on 12/31. I have been an opiate addict on and off since 2000. I was using on an average anywhere from 10-20 10mg perc's or 3 40mg oxy's or 50mg of methadone a day. Whatever was available or I could scrap up the money for. What a nighmare. I have tried many time to quit, rehabs, cold turkey, and bup injections x3 days. Nothing worked. It seemed the more times I quit and started the worse the withdrawal got. So I decided to try Sub. I wish I would have read all of these replies first. I was terrified after reading how horrible it was to get off of. I started on 16mg (per Dr's orders) and already had 2 days at 16mg when I read all of these replies. I am very scared to continue with this therapy but feel trapped because I already started. My doc told me to take the 16mg every day for the next 2 weeks until I see him again. I have already started weaning myself. I took 8 mg today and plan to take 8mg tomorrow and then 4mg for two days then down to 2mg and so on. From what everyone one has said, we should only stay on for no longer than two weeks. I am looking for some opinions on what kind of withdrawal to expect from the Sub. I kinda figure I will feel the withdrawals from the opiates the lower I get on the Sub. I already feel alittle achy with the Sub I am taking now. But VERY tolerable. I do not feel high at all from the Sub but I am sitting here at work next to someone I know is high as a kit on opiates and I feel ABSOLUTLY no urge to join my previous "buddy" any comments out there

guys Suboxone helps great while your taking it, but like anything you put into your body for long periods of time, they'll be withdrawl. I have been using since '95 after a broken collar bone and continued till 6 months ago. I couldn't get out of bed for less than an 80. My habit cost me my job, my savings and my dignity. I have been on suboxone for 6 months but its nothing more than a substitution. I am on day five without and it has been the hardest thing i ever had to do. But last night i got a little sleep, made my self eat ceral and got on line to see if i might have bet it. If you can get a few nerve pills or something to calm the anxiety and force yourself to eat something regardless how little. Its not a miracle and its gonna be tough - BUT YOU CAN DO IT And when you take back control of your life it will have all been worth it.

Good Luck

I wrote in on Jan 2nd. I was perscribed Suboxone 16mg/day. After reading these stories I immediately weaned down. I have been taking this medication now for 8 days. I am down to 4mg and will take another 4 tomorrow then 2mg and one more day of 2mg before stopping. Which is a total of 11 days on this medication. I am hoping I will not go through such a rough withdrawel since I only took it for 11 days. I still feel fine (no withdrawal from opiates) and do not have any cravings AT ALL. Does anyone have any experience with such a limited time on this medication you can share? I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I gotta say that there is nearly nothing on the internet about getting OFF of suboxone. I was on it for a year, starting with something like 20mg and then down to a quarter of one 2mg pill a day. I still had 10 days of fever, sweats, dehydration etc. The point to all of that is not to discourage anyone, it wasnt half as bad as getting off a real pain killer if you ask me, and i've done them all. The problem is people freak out, they want an easy way out when there isnt one...But there are ways to make it go faster, I not once in those 10 days missed the gym, sounds crazy but i worked out like a maniac, steam roomed all i could, hot baths, and almost entirely a fruit diet that first week, with protein shakes since you dont feel like eating much. The important thing to remember is get up, get moving, get over it. It sounds mean but honestly if your busy as hell, work, working out, go tan, hell whatever, i went clubbing since i couldnt sleep =) Lifes gonna give you about 10 days of lemons, make some fuckin lemonaide. Just remember its not forever! Its like war (I know war all too well too) prepare for the fight, know the length of your battle isnt forever, its a definate period of time, then fight, suck it up and fight for your life LITERALLY. I can tell you this, when your done theres no cravings, you dont even wanna see another orange pill, your biggest battle is at 36 hours, after that its just chills, mild fever and restlessness, like i said, plan a week of partying, workouts and baths and your free...FREEEEEEEE!
You'll know your ready, you need to have that resolve in your head before anything, otherwise the battle is already lost.
Hope this helps someone to break free from this sickening world of useless pills and doctors. get healthy

WOW, i have been on a gram and a half of herion for the past year. I was going to the methadone clinic for a few months but finally realized how F**** those people there are....coming down from the methadone was HORRIBLE, they told me that in order to get off the methadone and on to suboxine that i might just want to use again to get through the rough couple days....wtfF? isnt that why i went to the clinic to begin with, to get off? so my boyfriend and i have been using again for the past few months. yesterday though my boss gave me the money to get suboxin, i have been looking forward to this for such a long time, i thought that this would be a way to get my life back. i was just looking online to find a doctor to perscribe it and found this site....reading all of these negitive comments about sub i really am having second thoughts. i am only planning on being on it for a week or two but you guys have scared me shitless. i just want my life back, i want to wake up everyday and not NEED "something" to get me through the day. can i do it if im carefull? i need some encouragement, i REALLY want this. Crying or Very sad

ok. I used to take 30mg perks and 80 mg oxys, then i started sniffing about 4-5 bags a day. This was over a 2 year period. Then i took seboxone. I don't know what anyone one here is talking about. I feel GREAT! I started taking less and less every day, then every other day. That's the way to do it slowly not just stop taking it at all. The proof is right infront of me because, my boyfriend used the same amount that i used and right now he can't get out of bed. his head hurts, he's very upset, and feels sick. I feel that it's because while on the seboxone he was still using! Otherwise, how could i feel so good and he feels so bad?????[/b Laughing

I just came off of 11 days taking suboxone. Started out taking 4mg a day and on the 11th and 12th day took 2mg. I was taking 15 to 20 hydro 10 a day before. Today is my 4th day without the suboxone. I don't feel like running a marathon, but I feel ok. Better than I would feel if I hadn't had the suboxone to come off the hydros. I feel better today than I did yesterday. Just feel drained that's it.

    Hey All,

I am, as well, very new to posting... I've never really done it before, but here goes!

I've been on suboxone for several years now. After being on it for over 2 1/2 years, I was able to stop it. (As a side note, I went from 8mg, 6mg, 4mg, 2mg, then 1mg every other day or twice a week). The Withdrawals were still tough, but no matter what you may think, the drug does help. Though you will have, PERHAPS, the withdrawal's lasting a little longer, they are FAR easier to deal with, IMHO. I actually decided to get off of Tincture Of Opium, Paragoric, Codeine, and oxy (though rarely). It was all for medical reasons, though it soon became a little more than that, as I'm sure many of you know! In any case, I got on the suboxone and it helped me a TON. However, understand that there is no "Magic Pill" / "Magic Cure" for withdrawal. No matter what, you are going to feel bad. Trust me when I say, that's the nature of the beast!

Anyway, I've had to go back on the suboxone because of medical reasons, NOT BECAUSE OF ANY RELAPS, etc... But I was able to deal with the withdrawal, and I'm a wimp. It was hard, but the withdrawal of the Tincture of Opium that I was on was FAR worse. I had been going through withdrawal for over 1 month with the Opium, and there was no end in sight. At least with the suboxone, the "Crash" isn't nearly as bad.

I hope this helps someone in some little way... (If not, I'll go and shut up, honest!) Smile

    Andrew

PostPosted: 01/18/08 - 10:45    Post subject: Suboxone withdrawls Vote now! Reply with quote

I was addicted to opiates (oxycontin percocet vicodin ecc...) for 2 years and i was finally done and wanted to turn my life around. I went to see a local Dr. to get put on suboxone and he started me on 8mg. per day and for the next 9 months i weaned myself down to 0.5mg and finally the doc told me i could stop taking the suboxone, so i did. The withdrawls were HELL !!! I couldnt sleep, couldnt eat i lost 10 lbs., i was dehydrated, no energy, my body was SUPER sore, couldnt hardly get up and move but u have to other wise u will go insane!!! So i called my doc and told him and he tryed to bullshit me and say it was mental, but he finally precribed me Clonidine 0.1mg which is a high blood pressure med he said it would help witht the withdrawls, and it did help a little bit. He also precribed me Xanax 1mg to help me sleep and help calm me down. Xanax works good if you cant sleep! And if your doc wont give you any meds to help you sleep go to your local drug store or walmart and buy Melatonin, helps you sleep alot the pharmacist recomended it to me and its all natural and it does not cause any dependences, good shit !!! All the other over the counter sleep aids dont help at all !!! If you are going through all the same problems just be verry strong, its the hardest thing i have ever gone through but you will make it. Days 3 - 5 are the hardest and then it gets alot better! I had to go to the emergency room on day 4 but, i wouldnt recommend going to the emergency room unless you fell suicidal, because they wont do anything for you really. Its just one of those things that you have to be strong about, no pain no gain. To me the withdrawls were worth all the pain and missery because i have my life back now! Getting out and doing fun things help alot, go to the gym and work out, when i work out i cant really feel the withdrawls, excercise excercise exercise ! Eat healthy foods, viatamins, get alot of protien in ur body! Stay away from caffeine and soda pop, drink lots of water and anything good for your body, you have to detox your system. I quit smoking at the same time i quit suboxone so its pretty hard for me. Suboxone withdrawls last longer than painkiller withdrawls, normally 2 times longer. The reason why is that suboxone has a verry long half life and it takes around 36 - 48 hours to get out of your system. And regular painkillers have a half life of around 12 - 24 hours. I personally hate suboxone because they are treating one opiate addiction with another opiate, its retarded. If you decide to take the suboxone path dont let your Dr. keep you on the drug for more that 2 months. Suboxone is verry addicting! I am on day 9 and i still have mild withdrawls, i didnt think i would make it through all of this this but you will and it is all worth it in the end!

PostPosted: 01/19/08 - 18:58    Post subject: suboxene withdrawals Vote now! Reply with quote

My husband was prescribed up to 32 mgs of suboxene per day (8 mg pills and could take up to 4). I am confused as to why he was prescribed so many and with such a high mg after he had already detoxed from Vicodin for over a month clean. Has anybody else heard of someone being prescribed so much? He's trying to get off it now and is showing signs of the withdrawals you all are talking about, hot, cold, sweats, et cet. I'm scared for him. He is trying to stop it cold turkey after cutting down to about 12 mgs per day, because he said he felt like he wasn't feeling good and was feeling too anxious and panicky and had no sexdrive, but it sounds like he should be weening off of it. Any suggestions would be great.
