sudafed for a minor ear infection?

My son is 16 years old and he has often ear infections. Those are a consequence of chronic sinusitis he has for 5 years now. Chronic sinusitis shows more often in winter, in the form of acute episodes. Strong rhinitis, coughing, headaches, these all attack him in that period. If he does not start with his antibiotics in time, ear infection happens easily. Is Sudafed effective for minor ear infection?

I can say that generic name for Sudafed is pseudoephedrine, which is a decongestant. IT works by constricting blood vessels and reducing the swelling and other factors of inflammation. It ensures better passage through nasal passages. It decreases the secretion of mucus and prevents the mucus from getting to middle ear and in that way directly prevents minor ear infections.
