| Last night was the worst. I was sitting down watching T.V. when WOW....i got this stabbing pain on my left side above my ear....it had quite the punch...all I could do is hold my head...though it didn't do anything. Today....I have the same thing. They last maybe for 3 seconds and than they are gone...more frequently today than the one time last night. I am 26 years old......I try not to worry but its kind hard not too since its in your head (lol no pun intended) anywho have any ideas or have been to the doctor and been told something differently than the toothpick headache....we are all entitled to second opinions.....well hope everyone feels better....myself as well..(fingers crossed) |

| I have been experiencing the same shooting pain behind my left ear and occasionally by right ear but much less frequent. Someone mentioned that the pain is a one and the annoyance is a 5, I fully agree. Mine started last month when I thought it was just a pinched nerve but hasn't stopped. It has subsided a good bit however and does it less frequently. Does anyone know the cause of this? |

| I have the same, only now that I am travelling overseas it is much much worse. I have been diagnosed tho and it is called Transgeminal Neuralgia. Some cases are worse than others of course. |

I am having the EXACT same issue. I am a 27 year old female. Although unlike some, I find the pain to be extreme. |

| sandi888 wrote: | | For a few years, I have been experiencing very infrequent shooting pain down the right side of my head. Sometimes it happens 2 or 3 times a week and then I might not feel it again for a few weeks or months. It can happen at any time of the day. The pain only lasts for a second or two and it travels down the right side of my head from just above my ear to just below it. Sometimes it is just a tingling sensation and other times it is a very intense, but quick, pain. I don't have any other symptoms and I am a healthy, active 41 year old female. I asked my doctor about this a while ago and she didn't seem very concerned. She offered to send me for an x-ray but I declined. However, lately I am worried about what this could possibly be. Thank you. |
Yeah i just experienced exactly what you explained seconds ago and thought i was dying or something so i looked it up |

| yea i just got the pain on my right side pretty much exactly what the first lady explained but for the first time. I thought i may be dying so i looked it up. i'm thinking it may have something to do with cracking my neck because i got the urge to do so soon after. anyone else here do that? |
