suffering from heartburn in pregnancy

Hello. I am a woman that is 29 years old and I am pregnant for about two months now. My mother told me that I will maybe suffer from heartburn during pregnancy, and so I am. It gets a little uncomfortable sometimes, and that is why I would like to know if there is a way for me to help with the matter. Any ideas?

Well, it isn't like you can do much about it, really. Heartburn happens because of progesterone that your body makes in bigger than usual quantities. This hormone boosts stomach acid. When I was pregnant they told me to avoid spicy food, and not to overeat. I usually got heartburns when I least expect it. Avoid smoking and chewing gum, too.
