suicide thoughts in adolescents

Hi, I would like to ask you something about my adolescent teenager. My son is 16 years old and I have to say that sometimes I am frightened for his mental state. He seems too quiet, sometimes entire day goes by and he does not say one word. Other than that, he looks and acts normal. I am just afraid that he does not have any suicide thoughts!

It is very hard to talk to teenagers about, well just about anything. Try to remember how you felt when you were in that age; I am sure it involved a lot of thinking and self questioning. But, at one point you have to talk to him, just try to approach casually and without aggression in your voice. I guess that is the only method possible...
