Hello! My brother has been diagnosed with an inguinial hernia. He is about to have a surgery but I haven’t spoken to him much. Nevertheless would I like to know what it is and what sort of surgeries there are!!!!

Hi there! My husband had a surgery 3 years ago. It wasn’t that scary. An inguinial hernia is a lump that occurs when part of the small bowel, or other abdominal tissue protrudes through an area of weakness in the groin. Symptoms are groin discomfort or groin pain aggravated by bending or lifting, and a groin lump. There can be open surgery and a newer technique called laparoscopy performed through small incisions in the skin using special instruments. A hernia repair is a one day case, with no necessary overnight stay in hospital. I hope I helped you a bit!!!
