switched from Valtrex to Famvir?

I have been using Valtrex for my problems with shingles. I thought it would be helpful but it turned out not to be that effective. Now I am thinking to switch from Valtrex to Famvir, but I am not so sure if I can do that without a consultation with a doctor. Did anyone use Famvir? What can you tell me about it?

Both of these medications are used to fight with herpes zoster, cold sores and also deal with herpes in patients that have normal level of immune system. You are already having doubts about switching the therapy, and you are right about that. Perhaps you did not give enough time to medications to start working, or you simply have different reaction to it. You really should talk to your doctor first.
