hi ive been experiencing a lot of itching at night in my vagina and the skin between my vagina and anus. the itching doesnt occur during the day too often but at night it seems rather uncontrollable. the lips of my vagina look sort of bruised up and feel sort of swollen. i dont have a "cottage cheese discharge" so im sort of confident its not a yeast infection. please help!

Well, to be honest with you, you can have a yeast infection without the cottage cheese discharge. Is it only itching at night or is it all the time? It might be an allergic reaction to something if it feels swollen and is itchy. If you had sex recently it might even be an allergy to latex. I'd go get checked out if this continues.

I've experienced the exact same thing as sephchild describes about two weeks ago, couldn't sleep from the itch. I also had very sensitive fingertips, fingers were swollen and red. Washing my hands with warm water hurt. Dermatologist prescribed antihistamine which helped temporarily. Have stopped taking them, seemed to be better, but last two nights it is starting all over again! Any ideas on what this is and what could be causing it?

Hi Girls, Believe it or not what you eat will affect your vagina. So even if it is yeast, which it could be, you need to look at your diet. Are you eating alot of acidic foods? The big culprits are coffee, sodas, vinegar (anything with vinegar in it like dressing) dairy like cheeses, condiments like ketchup, mustard, mayo etc, fruit, anything with sugar in it. I know this seems like alot of foods but yeast or itching is a sign that you are unbalanced. So you might want to add a lot of fresh veggies. You can steam them gently. Increase your water intake to 1/2 your body weight in ounces. Also, juicing your veggies, not any fruit, is really healthy. Taking a supplement called acidopholus. It helps to restore the good bacteria in your intestines. This takes time to work. Don't expect results to happen quickly. Good health. Laura

I've been going nuts as well, with this same issue. I've been dealing with the same symptoms for a month now! I went to the doctor thinking that it could be a yeast infection. They gave me 2 rounds of diflucan. I took one, my symptoms got worse. So I went to another doctor. Both my labia were extremely swollen. It hurt to walk and even sit. He gave me a steroid shot, another diflucan, and 4 rounds of another anti-biotic to take for a week. I felt better for about two days after finishing all antibiotics and then it all came back again. I've postponed having sex with my boyfriend until this all clears up. So it's been about 3 weeks since we've had intercourse. So at least I know now that latex or sex with him isn't the culprit. I think I'm going to go back to the doctor this week, but not sure that any meds are going to truly help this. I'm going to try the low sugar intakes that you suggested above. This means I also need to cut out alcohol for awhile too. Any suggestions on the yogurt experiment? I've heard that one of the better and cheaper ways to soothe a yeast infection is to cover the irritated area with plain yogurt. But will this get rid of the infection as well? I'm so ready to be done with this thing! |
