My husbands feet have been swollen and hurts to stand or walk. He's been abnormally tired. Has had one dizzy spell and a cough for about six months. When he coughs, snezzes, or laughs he sometimes has loose bowels. His breathing is heavy. He is 38 and overweight (which we know is a contributing factor).

Have him check for uric acid, sounds like it could be gout. A rheumatologist would be the specialist that can treat this condition.

Your husband is suffering from peripheral edema, which is characterized by sometimes painful swollen feet. Peripheral edema may be a sign of, among many things, heart, liver or kidney failure which causes excessive water to accumulate in the body. It can also be a side effect of certain blood pressure lowering medication. He is also suffering from stress fecal incontinence. Yes, being overweight has a lot to do with both conditions. Dry cough not resulting from an infection is the body's natural way to correct an irregular heart beat (cardiac arrhythmia). I think your husband is long overdue for a checkup. Compression socks (available in the drugstore or online) may help to reduce the swelling and pain on his feet.
