swollen glands

Hi, my name is Brenda and I have been having a sore throat sometimes on one side of the throat and sometimes on the othe and sometimes both. I had my tonsils out when I was 13 and I am now 53. I have also noticed that the glands right under your jaw bone become swollen and sore. I also have a dry cough and have been losing my voice the last two times I became sick with what I thought were colds. This has been going on for a couple of months now. I looked on a chart and the glands that are swollen on the right side of my face seem to be called the cervical gland. I don't know if that has anything to do with the cervix but I had cervicle cancer when I was 30 and had surgery to have it removed along with most of my other female parts. I had a second bout with cancer in 1999 near my rectom. If you have any ideas of what may cause my problem please let me know. Also when I take a first bite of food sometimes it almost is like I bit into something sour and it almost hurts in those same glands in my neck.
