The vaginal lips usually get swollen after sex and this is natural but if it starts itching and lasts for a longer time, you should ask your doctor for a treatment. It sounds like you have the irritation and it you could have got vaginal thrush, this is a yeast infection which is more uncomfortable than harmful. It’s also easily treated so you don’t panic! Thrush irritates the delicate tissue of the vagina and genital area and makes it sore, red and burning. Maybe it would be painful for you to urinate and to have sex but you shouldn’t have the intercourse until this condition is treated. Your doctor will perhaps prescribe you some creams and suppositories but the yeast infections will usually respond better to oral antifungal medications such as ketoconazole or fluconazole. These could cause side effects such as nausea, abdominal cramps and rash so anyhow, you should talk to your doctor first about which medication to take.
