swollen throat except when I lay down

I have the sensation of a swollen throat, more like something is constricting the throat, not really like when I have a cold. The weird thing is that I don't have any sensations when I'm sleeping or laying down. It starts up again about 1/2 hour after I wake up. It's constantly dry and gets irritated when I talk a lot. Sinus sprays sometimes helps a little. I don't think it's really in my throat but maybe the sinuses. I've gone to the doc and they've given me FloNase, amoxicillin, & Methyiprednisolone with no effect.

Any help out there!!!
