| Hi, I am a thirty four years old woman. I think I might be catching a cold, but I am worried that it could be something else. There is no high temperature present, but my throat is swollen. Also, I have difficulties eating. I remember reading somewhere that a swollen throat is a symptom of a cancer. Since I do not have fever, could I be developing cancer? |

| Hi, you should not jump to conclusions. It is very hard to tell what is your condition based on your brief information. The cause of swollen throat is, in most of the cases, infection. Beside the fact that you do not have high temperature, this could be the case. What is also important about swollen throat is its location, for how long have you had it and how does it look. It is true that the swelling could indicate cancer. That is why it is important for you to visit the doctor as soon as possible. He will perform all the necessary tests in order to find out what is causing your swollen throat. Also, after the diagnosis has been made, the right course of treatment will be prescribed. Therefore, a visit to the doctor is of the uttermost importance. |
