Hi, i was wondering why i get an irritated feeling in my vaginal area when my boyfriends sperm gets inside me. It feels irritated for about 10 minutes and then it feels fine. I was wondering if you have ever heard of a case like this before? is it an allergic reaction or maybe symptoms of some sort? thanks

This is a good question. Although it is happening quite rare, it is still happening to some women that are having semen allergics which are misdiagnosed with yeast or herpes infection. After the sperm gets into you, you can feel burning or swelling, most often in the outer genital area but it can also happen in vagina.
What you are allergic to are the proteins in the semen. The systematic reaction is believed to be linked to a specific IgE antibody that is triggered by the protein.
What is important is that your partner should be hydrated before and after the intercourse because the dehydration can be the cause of concentration of semen which became more acidic, and it already has the high pH. Also, there is a possibility that he has eaten or drank something that changed his semen and it irritated your vagina.
I believe in your case this is not the matter of you but of your partner’s semen and you should consider all of this I have written above as the possible causes of the irritation.
