| I've got similar symptoms, if I laugh or cough I have a small sharp pain at the left hand side of my chest which goes under my armpit and reaches a small bit at the back. I'm a bit short of breath, not too badly, but I do have asthma. I was at the football yesterday and was jumping about like mad when we scored so I dunno if I got hit. Was also drinking last night, so I don't know if that has something to do with it? |

| I was at a punk show and got elbowed pretty hard in the jaw and ribs, the jaw felt fine after a week, but the ribs still hurt slightly. Until last night, that is, when I had a pretty violent coughing fit (picked up a chest cold) and I felt a sort of snap or pop right where my ribs hurt, now it hurts pretty severely. Cracked rib? maybe a torn muscle? |

Hi there
i got kicked in the chest a week or more ago im in real pain right side under breast bone .deep breathing hurts and most movements are really painfull.ive got granulado efervescente iburofeno wqhich dosent really help ..im getting panicky .i live in tenerife and dont hv insurance so cant visit hospital .just a bit of advice please

| i got injured insoccer, slammed up against the wall...i can move but not very well. certain moves and i scream in pain. Did i crack a rib? I don't really want to go to the doctor. I guess whatever will heal. |

Hello,
I am having the same problem with my ribs, Only I fell the other day and landed on a childs chair, It hurts me so bad I can hardly take a breath. I don't want to go to the hospital either, Although I have good insurance, I have had broken ribs before and I don't know if mine are broken or just cracked, I heard they hurt the same, and the pain is severe in both.
Is there anything to take besides painpills?..
I really need some relief, I am an eldery woman, and can take pain but this is so bad I just want to cry. |

If you think you got a Broken Rib GO to the Doctor OR ER if it's broke it could be Jagged edge type fractured and if it close enought to the lung it could puncture the lung so Please seek medical fast. when i was young i got most my Ribs cracked & Fractured playing baseball and the Doctor told my Mom I need to be careful because 1 ribs was jagged and could puntcture the lung  .so Please be careful if u think you got a fractured Rib or Ribs. better to be on the safe side  .  |

I fell on my side a couple days ago, and it hurts to press on it or breathe. is it a broken rib? |

I am requiring about my friend. She fell against a fence while out walking her dog on 3-30-08. She won't go to the doctor. He prescribed Vicodin which she takes every four hours. It is extremely painful when she takes a deep breath or coughs. Now she has edema in her feet so he prescribed a diuretic. I am concerned because her doctor hasn't seen her and all he does is prescribe medications.
If she did in fact crack a rib how long does it take for the pain to subside? I am working on getting her in to her doctor but I know she won't go until she is able to move more freely without pain.

| I was riding my horse on Saturday may 3,08 and i got thrown off and hit the ground pritty hard with my ribs. This is the 4th time i have fallen off on the side. I chipped my ribs before, but it was a big deal, than i brusied them pretty badly. My ribs feel a little swollen. But im not sure what that means. Please tell me... |
