hello, I have a ten year old who goes in for basketball and really trains a lot, both at school and local basketball team. I heard that children can easily dehydrate from excessive exercise and my son is still too young and can’t take such good care of himself. What should I look for? What are the signs of dehydration?

You should watch for dry mouth and swollen tongue, increased thirst,
dry or sticky mouth, feelings of lethargy or confusion, pounding of the heart….but you know what I think. This isn’t what you should be watching for. You should make sure he doesn’t dehydrate. You should talk to his couches about the amount of liquid he needs for proper function. Water would be best.
