I am interested in synthesis of active ingredient in tamiflu. I know that it is effective against viruses, so is it isolated from another virus or is it a synthetic compound? I think that there is no person who has not heard about tamiflu, because of birdflu pandemic.
So how do they do synthesis of oseltamivir phosphate? As I know, it is produced in Switzerland.

Tamiflu is a product of Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche. Oseltamivir is compound derived from a plant that grows in China. That’s what I heard. I am not sure; those antiviral drugs are very specific. I think that neither of them is able to eradicate virus from infected organism. Tamiflu is an expensive drug, and I‘ve always thought that I can trust in Swiss products. But, as I told you, I heard that it has some relations to a Chinese plant species.
