I had a thyroidectomy 6 months ago and find I cannot take synthroid due to severe abdominal cramps. My doctor had me on 125 mcg per day. I can tolerate 75 mcg a day but that is not enough. He wont prescribe Armour, but I dont know if I can take that. PLEASE HELP!
I always had side effects with synthroid too. No stomach cramps but I was always so swollen and puffy. I looked awful.
Fortunately, my doctor prescribed Armour and I felt 90% better taking it than any other thyroid med.
This kind of sounds "cliche" but maybe you should find another doctor. It's hard for me to believe that all of the problems you are having with synthroid your doctor won't at least try Armour or some of the other thyroid meds out there.
