On my last gynecological exam my doctor told me that I have syphilis. It seems that my partner transmitted me during sexual intercourse. I noticed some lesions around my genital region, what it is, as they explained me first stage of symptoms. Anyway this is totally shocking for me. I need some information about this infection. Thank you.

I know that syphillis causes bacteria T.pallidum. The disease begins with a chancre, normally in genital area but if it is untreated, it will heal but in the same time progress causing many complications, even death sometimes. As far as I know, it is effectively treated with penicillin or antibiotics. I guess your gynecologist will know what is best for you. Take care.
