Since children are at greater risk of dehydration, it may not be bad to give them Pedialyte. It is an oral rehydration solution that replaces lost fluids, minerals and salts due to vomiting and diarrhea. It is designed especially for children, so there would be no harm done.
Foods should be avoided for a few hours, so that the GI tract could calm down. Make sure you are getting enough clear liquids and avoiding caffeine, alcohol and milk (and other diary products).
Diarrhea shouldn’t be stopped all the way, since this is one way of getting rid of an infection. |
