teen depression problems

Hi, my son is 15 years old and I think he is suffering from depression. In last few weeks he feels sad and his appetite is bad. He is not interesting to go out with his friends and I am pretty concerned because of this. I would like to know what I may do to help him as I don't want to take him to the doctor if it is not necessary.

Hi, teenage depression is not so rare and may be caused by many different reasons. First you need to check if your son is taking some drugs. I know it may be very difficult in such situation but you have to eliminate this possibility. Also you have to talk to your son, listen what he has to say and be gentle with him. It is the best way to make good communication based on trust and understanding. If this doesn't help you may consult psychologist.
