I’ve been struggling with acne for 15 years. My periods are the same as they always were, every 27 days. I‘ve been on different medications, but over the past three years my acne worsened and now it is worse in the middle of my menstrual cycle. I also had used benzyl peroxide but it started to damage my skin so I stopped using it. Is hormonal therapy going to help me? I have heard that testosterone therapy in women can solve the acne.

Acne is due to testosterone levels, in women it is product of conversion from either estrogen or progesterone and it is done in fat cells. I think that losing weight will help also birth control pills will change your sexual steroid levels. If you approaching menopause I suspect that you either gain weight or your estrogen level is changing.
