Everyone that posted something on this pages as far as symptoms I have had. I am 28 yrs old and have been dealing with anxiety/panic attacks for the last 4 years. Some days are better than others. I am currently taking prozac on a daily basis and ativan for when I have an attack that I cant control. I have had the chest and throat flutters (even though I know it is anxiety related still scares the living $hit out of me everytime) The slightest pain I get in the chest area I think im going to have a heart attack and die. I have been to my doctor, have had frequest visits to the ER and my heart is perfectly fine they can not find anything wrong with it. But sometimes just going and getting that reassurance from the doctor helps me out for a little while. I have also found solice is reading and writing in a journal. Lately ive been reading self help books on anxiety and panic attacks. CBT or cognative behavorial thearpy is something you might want to look into as well. It teaches you ways to coup and gives you ways of positive self talk as oppose to negitive self talk which makes anxiety worse. Believe me you are not alone, I think we are just a world constantly on the go and never have time to relax. You need to find that time to relax and help yourself or the anxiety will never go away. HOpe that helps.

It has been somewhat reassuring to read these posts... I just had a baby about 9 months ago and about a month ago my ears starting feeling plugged and I had alot of post-nasal drip - my chest ached and I felt my throat constantly fluttering, hard to swallow - then the feelings of panic set in... I had panic attacks years ago and realized that all my symptoms could be related and the panic is increasing them... I just got a chest scan the other day and paid 500 dollars to have them tell me all was fine... I am so scared as well that it is something else! The anxiety is killing me!

I cant belive I just came across this page from looking up chest flutters. I suffer from anxiety for three years now and like all the other responses I have had every medical exam possible done to the point of embrassment ( All Negative Thank God). I take Effexor for my anxiety for the past four months and it takes the edge of it but i know i still have to work at it. when I get these flutteres, palpations and sometimes if i get it reall bad it develops into pain. I know what ye are going through i just wish I knew the answers. Good Luck

I have had this in the last few months, after being very well diagnosed with panic disorder about 6 months ago.

It's very scary, but strangely i've gotten more used to it. It doesn't terrify me anymore, though it is very unsettling. I was encouraged to get on Lexapro, but took the psychotherapy route. I'm vastly better than i was 6 months ago, and markedly better than 2 months ago.

It takes time... and its really difficult when you have a hell of a lot going on in your life to calm down enough to make these things stop (while trying to get better, i had to move to a new city, start a new job, break up with my boyfriend AND readjust to living in the US after two years in Africa).

And i'm still not there... i always take comfort and hearing everybody else's experiences. You can get better. Try not to blame other things, and trust in the psychology of it all.

I totally agree with the last post. you have to overcome the anxiety by forcing yourself to do things by yourself and realize you are going to be fine. Just utilize breathing techniques, exercise, go to bed at a reasonable hour and try to abstain from drinking alot of alchoholic beverages. I know it is very scary and I know what you are going through but you have to conquer it or it will take over your like. You can do it..just stay focused and positive.

I have been having this now for many months. I went to my primary care doctor who listened to my heart and did an EKG. All normal. BP normal. I have allergies to airborne things and I have noticed that this fluttering has increased dramatically since we have had such poor air quality in N. Calif. for the last several weeks. I have never had a problem with anxiety and I am only taking Allegra and Benadryl as medicines. I think it is allergy related. It is annoying, tho. Does anybody know if there is something I can take to make the fluttering stop?

It's so weird finding this page in a search for some info about my own health problems, because the first post describes EXACTLY the same symptoms as mine. It seems to be aggravated by eating certain foods - like rye crackers - so mabye there's a link there, but whatever the cause I'm glad to know others have gone through this and not dropped dead or been diagnosed with cancer (also my fear).

I had already suspected anxiety after a recent hospital visit with cardiac symptoms... the doctors did a full screening for heart failure and heart attack indicators but found nothing. The relief didn't last long because the symtpoms came back yet when I asked for anti-anxiety meds and they refused to prescribe them. It seems hypocritical that every doc who comes across this slaps the anxiety label on it but then they won't even treat the anxiety. This has left me no choice but to drink booze when I get the symptoms, which I'm sure is worse for me in the long run but what else can I do??

Anyone with tips on how to get anti-anxiety meds without having a family doc (almost impossible to get one in this country) would be most welcome! And thanks for sharing the stories.

I have had weird throat flutters and recently got heart flutters.About a month ago, I got put on high blood pressure medication and 2 weeks after that I ended up in the clinic, I totally freaked out. My heart was racing and I was seeing stars, I felt closed in, like I was in a bottle. Thank God I work at this clinic, I got rushed into a room where the nurse gave me and EKG. The Dr. said that my heart was strong, and proceeded to ask me about my stress. She gave me some anxiety medication and sent me on my merry way. I have been asked by another Dr. if I ever been told I had a heart mumor, tomorrow I will be getting a follow up on my high blood pressure medication/situation and learn more about a potential heart mumor. On top of all this I am a pretty heavy drinker, I really started downing the booze last year. I drink about 3x a week, enough to be hung over. And I have gained 60lbs. in the last three years.

My flutters aren't painful. They did remind me of the chest/stomach pains I'd get when I'd feel overly anxious, but as I said before, there's no pain. And after it happens, I do feel as if I've stopped breathing despite the fact that I'm breathing through it... The flutters range from my throat to the top of my stomach and everywhere in between in the center of my chest. And if anything, my anxiety has become less and less frequent. The flutters happen more when I'm at rest. Then, after the flutter, I feel like there's something in my throat, or like I need to take a deep breath.
