throat pain

Hi, I am 22 years old male and I feel pain in my throat. It started several days ago when I wake up in the morning. It was light pain at the first moment but right now it is quite strong. I think my temperature is high too but I didn't measure it. I am wondering if it is just common cold or something else and would I take antibiotics?

Hi, it is not so easy to tell what is going on with your throat on the base what you have said. It may be inflammation of your tonsils caused by streptococcal infection, if you haven't removed it. In that case you would take some penicillin based antibiotics. If you are suffering from sore throat caused by virus then antibiotics won't help you at all. You would take vitamins, liquids and antipyretics.
