tightness in chest area

My husband has been complaining about the tightness in his chest area. He says it can happen with no cause, even when he is sitting down. He hasn’t suffered from any related disease at all, and there isn’t a heart problem in his family history. What could this be? Is it heart or something else?

Hello! I had a similar problem about two years ago. I also got scared and I decided to check it with a doc. They didn’t find anything on me physically but suspected stress. That was the right diagnose as I had a stressful period at work, and that made me to feel the tightness in the chest area. When the stress was realized, I had no more chest problems. In the meantime I learned that chest discomfort can be caused by illness, infection, a heart problem, stress, activity, or other conditions. Heart problems are uncommon.
