My baby is in 1, 5 years old. She had very severe cold recently which we treated carefully but now her doctor suspects that she might have asthma. But she says that there is no specific test to determine asthma at this age. What can you tell me about toddlers and asthma?
Asthma is more likely if child has symptoms that persist even when the cold is better, and if she has eczema as well. There are some asthma triggers like: temperature change, exertion, dust, and tobacco smoke etc….think about it. There are asthmatic drugs, which are normally given via inhalers, in small doses, because giving asthma medicine to very small children is very difficult, but there are special inhalers for toddlers. Her doctor or nurse will be able to show you how to use.
