I am a 19 year old female who just had a tonsillectomy 5 days ago. These horror stories arnt matching up with my experience so far, but i believe its because the older you are the harder it is. dont get my wrong it is a very painful recovery but its nothing that wont get better. the first day was the best for me because i was not in much pain but as the days went on i began to be in more and more pain. the 3rd day was my worst with pain. if you are scheduled to have a tonsillectomy done dont worry, just think you wont have to go through being sick as much anymore. the only thing i am worried about is my scabs falling off. and another thing that really sucks is when your family sits down for dinner and you have apple sauce and pudding it sucks!!!

i was just wondering if someone could please tell me how bad the pain really is when the scabs fall off? and also, after the scabs fall off do you begin getting better and eating more with less pain?
