tonsils and adenoids being taken out!

Hello! My ten years old daughter has just come home from her tonsils and adenoids surgery. She had frequent throat and ear infection and the surgery was our last option. I hope her health will improve and that she will start to sleep normally, without snoring and open mouth. Is there anything very important we should know after tonsils and adenoids are being taken out?

Hello! It is very important to drink plenty of fluids, especially in the first few days. Her food should also be soft and not warm. If she loses on weight don't worry it is normal. Also, she may be still breathing through her mouth and snoring due to swelling. Your daughter has to rest in her bed with her head lifted with few pillows. She should take her antibiotics as she was directed. You should not give her aspirin or any medicine containing aspirin. You should call your daughter's doctor if you notice bleeding, nausea, increased pain or fever.
