Two weeks ago I had a chalazion cyst surgery. Today I got my results. So, I had what I thought was a surgical procedure to remove the blocked "gunk" out of the gland in the eyelid but when I got my results today the eye lid specialist was surprised as I am that it is NOT a chalazion but rather some type of inflammation that caused a hard bump on my lower eye lid. The diagnosis is: dense dermal chronic inflammatory cell infiltrate (isn't this Blepharitis, which causes chalazions?) He offered me no other explanation and said he never saw this before. That surprised me as well. I have been treating this thing for 3 months with compresses before I got the nerve to have the surgery and now I am at a loss. I don't know where to go from here. It is unsightly, fluctuates in size, goes from flesh color to red, and I can feel it at times as it feels heavy (as a chalazion does). Is this now a dermatology issue??? He just wants to put me under and remove it entirely. But he's never seen this before and Im weary and confused.  Can anyone offer me any type of direction.. I am completely scared, upset and at a total loss as to where to go from here. Can anyone please offer me any advice? Thanks in advance.
