My former boss was just diagnosed with fatty liver disease. I found this out through the grapevine, but I always knew that he liked a drink and my guess is that most liver conditions are related to alcohol in one way or another. I do feel for him though! I wanted to ask you what side effects fatty liver has and what the life expectancy is for fatty liver disease?

You are right that fatty liver disease can be caused by excessive alcohol intake, though there are also cases of fatty liver disease that are non-alcoholic. While fatty liver disease does have complications, the good news is that the effects of fatty liver disease are mostly completely reversible, with a good regime of treatment and cessation of alcohol use.
