A vegetarian doesn't eat meat. A vegan doesn't eat meat or animal by-products. Therefore, a vegan generally won't eat milk, eggs, etc. So, obviously, a vegan may be missing calcium and protein. Vegetarians often lack protein in their diet.

But usually vegans and vegetarians put things in their diet with more protein or calcium, such as beans. Picking out the right kind of vegetables and fruits that have enough of nutrients that you may be deficient in is very important. If not, they'll be very sick.
