Hello, my sister has some changes on the place where she hit her hand. The scar became a bit bigger and it looks like a swelling. Doctor told her that it is some sort of benign tumor called keloid and it is more an esthetic annoyance than a real threat. I would like to know where these keloids mostly appear, how did they happen to her?

You should know that these benign tumors happen because of the increased activity of fibroblasts. These cells repair the tissue wounded in some injury and they usually appear in the ear, in the shoulder area, on the chest etc. You do not have to worry for her, it is really not something dangerous and it is easily treated.
