Hi there! I have been prescribed a drug called Toprol for the treatment of high blood pressure. The thing is that I just started using it without looking at the way they work. I am saying this because two days ago I noticed rash on my back, and chest that was very itchy. Could this be due to the drug use or? Does anybody know?

Yes, Toprol ( extended-release form of Lopressor ) is a beta blocker used for treatment of high blood pressure like in your case, angina, and heart failures. Beta blockers decrease the force and rate of heart contractions, thereby reducing the demand for oxygen and lowering blood pressure. One of its side effects is rash and itching, so maybe you should talk to the doctor who prescribed these to you, so that you can exchange it for something else.
