My brother and I were jumping from the dock into the water. It was so much fun but after one of jump he started complaining that he feels pain in his testis. Over the night they become swollen and inflamed. He went to see a doctor and he said that he has torsion of testis. I don’t understand what that means. Can somebody explain me? I am 15 years old and my brother is 17.

In some people, the tissues that surround the testis in the scrotum are lax, so testis can move around the scrotum more than usual. Then blood which flows testis is blocked in the twisted spermatic cord, and when you cut the supply of blood to testis it becomes damaged or ‘dies’, unless it is quickly restored. I hope he didn’t wait too long and that his doctor fixed everything. Torsion of the testis is an emergency!
